PCS 476R

This is PCS 476R (reg number), my 1976 Volkswagen 1200 Type 1 (Beetle) pictured in 2008 shortly after I bought her. She comes from the Dumfries and Galloway (PC) area of Scotland (S).
Since then I've had a few nasty surprises such as terminal end float in the engine, a bad paint job which seems to be just falling off and finally a failed MOT in July 2010.
This is her now in January 2011 with rotten floor pans, rot in the spare wheel well and rear inner arch, sills and front beam.

I almost gave up when I pulled by running board off and along with in came half the sill, around Christmas I was ready to scrap her. But I was save, Ric organised a Dub Wud meet and I got Ali to give me a lift in his bug, the ride made my miss mine and after talking to Dave and Ali I got motivated again. With her been a 76 and not tax exempt and a late beetle, I started to think it wasn't worth the hassle but I think its not all that bad, she's my first bug and I'm not going to give up on her that easy.

Anyway work starts this week, wire brushing all the under seal off and and cutting out the right side of the floor. Not quite decided weather to do the whole pan or just the rear, the advice I was given was to keep as much of the original as possible because the repair panels are a bit flimsy. I'll just have to see what's under the paint.

My aim is on the road by summer but by the very latest by Blackpool Breeze in September 2011, so that's 8 months to go. not sure weather I'll get the MOT then a spray job, just have to see.

I'm going to try my best to keep this up to date with progress and pictures, weather or not any one reads it, it's just for my own personal amusement. But for now I found this picture, thinking of a colour change?
